OUR MISSION

To foster a vibrant and supportive community that empowers individuals recovering from addiction to embrace a healthy, sober lifestyle. By providing social connection and resources to start rebuilding lives, we believe that, together, we can create a space where everyone is encouraged to live fully, with hope, strength, and purpose.

Through local events like sober picnics, sports gatherings, and social engagements, we provide opportunities and connection joy in a substance-free enviornment. We are particularly committed to supporting both men and women transitioning from treatment by offering the resources and guidance they need to rebuild their lives and thrive within community.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

  • Ryan & Christine Acosta

    Meet the Executive Couple

Ryan and Christine Acosta met in 2023 in Kerrville, Texas — a city that has not only become their home, but a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Both came to Kerrville through their own recovery journeys, seeking healing, connection, and a fresh start. Having each spent time in treatment and sober living, they found more than recovery — they found purpose, and they found each other.

In 2024, they were married, and now they’re preparing to welcome their first child, Benicio, in May. As a couple, and soon-to-be parents, they remain deeply rooted in the recovery community that gave them their second chance at life.

Together, Ryan and Christine lead CHILL with a shared belief that no one is too far gone to start again — and that connection is the antidote to isolation. Their hearts are anchored in a guiding principle they both hold dear:
"We don’t deserve any of this — and that’s what makes it so beautiful."

They carry that sense of grace and gratitude into everything they do, building CHILL not just as a nonprofit, but as a home for those seeking hope, healing, and a place to belong.

  • Lyle & Serenity Lockhart

Lyle & Serentiy met in Kerrville in 2008 and married in 2010. Both having moved here for recovery and sober living a year or two before. “During that time there was always something fun happening within the fellowship community; volleyball, swimmiing, BBQ, and dinners after meetings. After growing our family by two, we noticed a decline in activities available within the community. It’s been amazing to see the rise of CHILL and the bountiful opportunities now available to not only those in recovery but the Kerrville community as well. We know the importance of learning that we do have fun in recovery and are honored to be apart of CHILL as a growing resource to the newcomer and their families.”

  • Corbin & Katie Thompson

Corbin is a proud Kerrville native, raised in this community and a graduate of Tivy High School. He serves as a local firefighter and paramedic, dedicated to protecting and serving the town that shaped me. Corbin is married to Katherine Thompson, and together they’re building a life rooted in faith, family, and service. As someone new to sobriety, Corbin is embracing a life of clarity and purpose. He is passionate about sports, cars, and staying active in the community. “Kerrville is my home, and I’m here to make a difference.”

Katie was also rasied in Kerrville and graduated from Tivy High School. She is married to Corbin Thompson and together they have two beautiful daughters. “I serve on several city and local boards. I’m passionate about service and making a meaningful impact in my community in any way I can. I’m on my own journey of recovery through Al-Anon, and I hope to make an impact in the lives of those in recovery, as well as the family and friends that walk along side them.”

  • Greg & Heather Butler

Greg and Heather moved to Kerrville in 2008 with their three kids and immediately got involved in the sober community, as well as the Tivy Athletic Boosters Club, the Theater and Arts community, and serving on on the Board of Directors for Little League. Greg works for GE Vernova remotely in the energy industry and Heather is a high school teacher at Tivy High School. With their children now adults Greg and Heather hope to share their experiences in order to encourage others to do the same for the purposes of building healthy families and a strong community.
